NETINT Introduces Codensity with Support for PCIe 4.0

The proliferation of data-intensive applications, including Big Data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, and large transactional systems is driving the need for scalable storage solutions.  One aspect to improve scalability is increasing data I/O throughput between host computer systems, and Solid State Drive (SSD) storage devices.

PCI-SIG® is a consortium that owns and manages Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) specifications as open industry standards.  Numerous vendors in the industry have designed their computing and peripheral equipment based on PCI Express® (PCIe®).  The lastest PCIe 4.0 interface specification, finalized in 2017, defines a 2x throughput improvement over the previous generation PCIe 3.0 interface.

NETINT Technologies is proud to be introducing the Codensity™ D400 SSD product family, NVM Express® (NVMe™) solid-state drive (SSD) storage products based on the PCIe 4.0 specification.  With PCIe 4.0 x4 interface support, the Codensity D400 SSD delivers 6 GB/s; doubling the throughput per PCIe lane compared to PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD solutions.

The underlying technology delivering this scalability and throughput improvement is the Codensity G4 SSD Controller System on Chip (SoC).  Codensity D400 SSDs, powered by the Codensity G4 SSD Controller SoC, deliver new levels of scalability and performance for storage system vendors, distributed application developers, enterprise customers, and cloud data center operators.

With support for PCIe 4.0, the Codensity D400 SSD delivers improved storage scalability, by supporting higher throughput per PCIe lane between the host computer and solid state storage.
