NETINT Technologies’ Announces Successful Compatibility Testing with
AWS Media Services

BURNABY, British Columbia, Aug 21, 2019 – NETINT Technologies, an innovator of computational storage and video processing SoC solutions, today announced successful compatibility testing between NETINT’s Codensity T400 Video Transcoders and AWS Media Services, becoming the newest member of the AWS Media Services Compatibility Program. With the completion of compatibility testing, NETINT’s customers can confidently deploy Codensity T400 Video Transcoders knowing that their video encoding outputs will be compatible with AWS MediaLive.

In a video streaming workflow, each unique video stream source typically requires multiple encodings of the video content using different codecs, resolutions, and bitrates – what is sometimes known as an encoding ladder set. These encoding ladder outputs would then be the inputs into an Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) streaming server or service, ensuring compatibility with a broad range of viewing devices used by video consumers, from 4K UHD TVs with broadband connections, to Smartphones connected using mobile networks.

Generating encoding ladders using software encoding typically requires extensive host processing equipment, rack space, and cost. Alternatively, video content producers can generate their encoding ladders at scale with Codensity T400 video transcoders which offers high density, with lower operating costs.

AWS Media Services are managed cloud services that make it fast and easy to prepare, process, and deliver broadcast and multiscreen video. With this announced completion of compatibility testing, the encoding RTP outputs from a Codensity T400 Video Transcoder can now feed into AWS MediaLive using AWS Elemental MediaConnect. With the use of Codensity T400 Video Transcoders, AWS customers can generate their encoding streams for AWS MediaLive with higher density and scalability.

“Many video streaming operators are already using AWS Media Services for their video distribution services, however the costs and infrastructure to generate real-time encoding outputs for ABR streaming distribution can be expensive,” said Randal Horne, Head of Global Sales, NETINT Technologies. “Through the successful completion of compatibility testing, video streaming operators can now generate encoding outputs at scale with Codensity T400 video transcoding solutions, and then stream those encoded outputs into AWS MediaLive for mass market video distribution.”
